Imagine Jesus way of teaching, when he was in Judea near Jerusalem various Jews approach him some came to learn some, thing while some came to test him. One of them who where expert in law ask him what he will do to get eternal life, Jesus notice that the was not seeking for information but he was trying to test him and he also notice that he has a view point regarding that. Jesus replied and said, what is written how do you read? The man now answer. You must love Jehovah your God with you whole heart, mind and strength and your neighbor as yourself. Jesus now said, continue doing this you have life. Yet, this man wasn't satisfied with that answer because he doesn't just want a factual answer he want to prove himself righteous and raise another question that says "who really is my neighbor?" Jesus now gave a parable recorded at luke chap 10 vs 25-37. Now what shows that this man and Jews who listening to him understand Jesus parable?
Jesus used what they already know as a example. First they know that the Priest and levite serve at the temple in Jerusalem, Second they know that some levites leave at Jericho. So from Jericho to Jerusalem is a very notorious road.
Third they also know that Jews despise Samaritan they doesn't have anything in common.
Lesson: We must not segregate or partial to anyone and we must love every one despite the background, culture, color, ethnic. God see all of us as the same.
