Introduction to basic geometrical concepts
The Word Geometry came from the Greek word Geometron–
“Geo” means “Earth” and “-metron” means “measurement”
Geometry is a branch of mathematics which deals with points, lines, surfaces, solids, space and its properties.
A Point (Dot): A point is the most basic geometrical shape. We can say it a dot too.
A line: If we place millions & billions of points side by side we get a line
Angles: When two lines intersect each other then they form an angle at the point of intersection.
A plane: A plane is the closed surface between three or more lines. All the two dimensional shapes such as squares, rectangles and circles are planner.
A Solid: A solid is a three dimensional object. All the objects around us are three dimensional mean they have length, width and height.
The above geometric concepts are called the Euclidean Geometry. There are other types of geometry which can be studied at this Wikipedia page.
