Hi Steemians, I still 'owe' you the detailed and more general explanation of how the maths works behind the solution of my last Asian handicap betting quiz solved by @miniature-tiger. This way of thinking may also help you to solve other but similar mathematical problems concerning arbitrage betting.

This was the odds table:

Bookie	Result	Odds	Stake
Bookie A	Team A	2.50	?
Bookie B	Draw	3.20	?
Bookie C	Team B +0.25	2.00	1920.00 euro

Now a system of equations makes sure to win the same amount, independent from the result of the game, but first let's define some parameters:

• W_A = winnings in case that team A wins.
• Q_A = odds for team A.
• S_A = stake placed on team A.
• W_D = winnings in case of a draw.
• Q_D = odds for a draw.
• S_D = stake placed on the draw.
• W_B = winnings in case that team B wins.
• Q_B = Asian handicap +0.25 odds for team B.
• S_B = stake placed on Asian handicap +0.25 odds for team B.

Now let's make the three equations for the three different possible outcomes:

1. W_A = (Q_A - 1) ∙ S_A - S_D - S_B
   If team A wins one has to subtract the stakes placed on team B and on the draw because they are lost in that case. The "- 1" is because one also has to subtract the stake placed on team A from the winnings as well.

2. W_B = (Q_B - 1) ∙ S_B - S_D - S_A
   If team B wins one has to subtract the stakes placed on team A and on the draw because they are lost in that case. The "- 1" is because one also has to subtract the stake placed on team B from the winnings as well.

3. W_D = (Q_D - 1) ∙ S_D - S_A + (Q_B - 1) ∙ S_B / 2
   If the game ends in a draw one has to subtract the stake placed on team A because it is lost in that case. Furthermore one wins half of the bet placed on team B +0.25! You may check again here how Asian handicap betting works ...

Let's equate 1. with 2. now to find the correct stake for team A (the stake of team B is given in my example):
(Q_A - 1) ∙ S_A - S_D - S_B = (Q_B - 1) ∙ S_B - S_D - S_A
Solve that equation yourself and you will get:
S_A = Q_B ∙ S_B / Q_A

In our example that means:
S_A = 2.00 ∙ 1920.00 euro / 2.50 = 1536.00 euro (as pointed out by @miniature-tiger)

Now let's equate 2. with 3. to find the correct stake for the draw:
(Q_B - 1) ∙ S_B - S_D - S_A = (Q_D - 1) ∙ S_D - S_A + (Q_B - 1) ∙ S_B / 2
Solve that equation yourself and you will get:
S_D = (Q_B - 1) ∙ S_B / (2 ∙ Q_D)

In our example that means:
S_D = (2 - 1) ∙ 1920.00 euro / (2 ∙ 3.20) = 300.00 euro (as pointed out by @miniature-tiger)

Finally we have to enter the calculated stakes into the first three equations to make sure that we will win the same amount in every case:

1. W_A = (2.50 - 1) ∙ 1536.00 euro - 300.00 euro - 1920.00 euro = 84.00 euro
2. W_B = (2.00 - 1) ∙ 1920.00 euro - 300.00 euro - 1536.00 euro = 84.00 euro
3. W_D = (3.20 - 1) ∙ 300.00 euro - 1536.00 euro + (2.00 - 1) ∙ 1920.00 euro / 2 = 84.00 euro

We win the same amount in every case - Q. E. D. :-)

Hallo Steemians, ich 'schulde' euch noch eine etwas detailliertere und allgemeinere Erklärung der hinter der Lösung meines letzten Wettquiz steckenden Mathematik. Die der von @miniature-tiger gefundenen Lösung zugrunde liegende Denkweise kann dabei behilflich sein, auch andere, aber ähnlich gelagerte, mathematische Probleme im Arbitragewettenbereich zu lösen.

Dies war die Quotentabelle:

Nun wird ein Gleichungssystem sicherstellen, unabhängig vom Ergebnis, stets denselben Betrag zu gewinnen, aber zuerst sollten wir einige Parameter definieren:

• G_A = Gewinn im Falle, dass Team A siegt.
• Q_A = Quote für Team A.
• E_A = Einsatz auf Team A.
• G_U = Gewinn im Falle eines Unentschiedens.
• Q_U = Quote für das Unentschieden.
• E_U = Einsatz auf das Unentschieden.
• G_B = Gewinn im Falle, dass Team B siegt.
• Q_B = asiatische +0,25-Handicap-Quote für Team B.
• E_B = Einsatz auf die asiatische +0,25-Handicap-Quote für Team B.

Nun werden drei Gleichungen für die drei verschiedenen möglichen Spielausgänge aufgestellt:

1. G_A = (Q_A - 1) ∙ E_A - E_U - E_B
   Wenn Team A gewinnt, müssen die auf Team B und das Unentschieden gesetzten Beträge subtrahiert werden, da sie in diesem Falle verloren sind. Das "- 1" rührt daher, dass auch der auf Team A gesetzte Betrag vom Gewinn abgezogen werden muss.

2. G_B = (Q_B - 1) ∙ E_B - E_U - E_A
   Wenn Team B gewinnt, müssen die auf Team A und das Unentschieden gesetzten Beträge subtrahiert werden, da sie in diesem Falle verloren sind. Das "- 1" rührt daher, dass auch der auf Team B gesetzte Betrag vom Gewinn abgezogen werden muss.

3. G_U = (Q_U - 1) ∙ E_U - E_A + (Q_B - 1) ∙ E_B / 2
   Wenn das Spiel unentschieden endet, muss der auf Team A gesetzte Betrag subtrahiert werden, da er in diesem Fall verloren ist. Außerdem gewinnt man die Hälfte der auf Team B +0,25 platzierten Wette! Falls nicht mehr klar ist, warum, kann hier nochmals nachgelesen werden, wie asiatische Handicap-Wetten funktionieren ...

Lasst uns nun 1. mit 2. gleichsetzen, um den korrekten Einsatz auf Team A zu berechnen (der Einsatz auf Team B ist in diesem Beispiel bereits gegeben):
(Q_A - 1) ∙ E_A - E_U - E_B = (Q_B - 1) ∙ E_B - E_U - E_A
Löst diese Gleichung und erhaltet:
E_A = Q_B ∙ E_B / Q_A

In unserem Beispiel bedeutet das:
E_A = 2,00 ∙ 1920,00 Euro / 2,50 = 1536,00 Euro (wie von @miniature-tiger berechnet)

Nun wird 2. mit 3. gleichgesetzt, um den korrekten Einsatz für das Unentschieden zu berechnen:
(Q_B - 1) ∙ E_B - E_U - E_A = (Q_U - 1) ∙ E_U - E_A + (Q_B - 1) ∙ E_B / 2
Löst diese Gleichung und erhaltet:
E_U = (Q_B - 1) ∙ E_B / (2 ∙ Q_U)

In unserem Beispiel bedeutet das:
E_U = (2 - 1) ∙ 1920,00 Euro / (2 ∙ 3,20) = 300,00 Euro (wie von @miniature-tiger berechnet)

Schließlich müssen wir die berechneten Einsätze in die ersten drei Gleichungen einsetzen, um zu überprüfen, dass wir bei jedem Ergebnis den selben Betrag gewinnen werden:

1. G_A = (2,50 - 1) ∙ 1536,00 Euro - 300,00 Euro - 1920,00 Euro = 84,00 Euro
2. G_B = (2,00 - 1) ∙ 1920,00 Euro - 300,00 Euro - 1536,00 Euro = 84,00 Euro
3. G_U = (3,20 - 1) ∙ 300,00 Euro - 1536,00 Euro + (2,00 - 1) ∙ 1920,00 Euro / 2 = 84,00 Euro

Wir gewinnen stets denselben Betrag - q. e. d. :-)
