With 9 blades that are in a slanting axis so that they roughly follows a spiral around the center, would this device be similar to a pump, and turn (rotate) and gently pump the water down along the central axis as it contracts and squeezes itself together?
The contraction would be all at one. It is possible that the "helical structure" that has been observed within the lumen of centrioles could be a cytosol vortex, not sure how a vortex behaves at the nano scale, that lumen is 500 nm long and maybe 100-150 nm wide, so maybe a cytosol vortex forms distinct edges that show up in electron photographs.
