I'M pretty sure when you open any of your social media accounts, you'd see a lot of pictures of your friends who travelled out of town (some even out of the country), went treakking, mountain climbing and most of them went to different beaches. Of course, it's summer and the activities this season can offer is endless. There are a lot of things you can do under the sun. You'd see people flaunting their toned bodies while wearing their respective swim wears. Some are simply chilling on a place that has a cold weather to take a break from the enflaming heat of the sun.
While it is good to see your friends enjoying the summer season, admit it, sometimes it can get annoying. Especially if they're already sharing even the tiniest detail of their travel on social media. You can't help but question their intentions. Are they really travelling to unwind or to flaunt and make people jealous that they went to beautiful places that not all of us can afford? Social media is a world of make-believe. Some chooses to make people think that they have a satisfying and luxurious life to keep up with their image.
There is definitely nothing wrong about posting your travel photos on social media. It makes your friends updated with your summer goals. Some of them would also be inspired to visit the places you went to. Some of us have a passion for photography, so, taking travel photos and posting them on social media is a good way to share your skills and talents to people. But it is important that you have the right intentions before sharing your travel goals. It should be meant to update your family and friends, to share and inspire them. It shouldn't aim to show off.
Always remember that the right goal for travelling is to relax, unwind and experience new things in different places. Don't let the social media influence your travels and its real essence. You don't have to brag because you were able to travel and others didn't or couldn't. Most importantly, don't travel just because you were jealous of your friends who are constantly posting their travel photos. You are not in a competition. Don't feel pressured on such a trivial matter. Travel because you want to or you need to.
Travelling can be good for you especially if you're burned out from work. It provides a great escape from all the pressures, stress and deadlines to meet. It's a little laid back and meant to make you feel relaxed and reinvigorated. Take it as an opportunity to take a break and not as a way to make yourself look better on social media.
