Is there a good word for those memes that only exist as emotional relief from forbidden topics? Like, people debate consent when browsing websites, but never debate consent when it comes to the "social contract"? Or, the right to "change your sex", but not to change or choose your nationality. Or, that plastic bags should be outlawed, while plastic is the foundation of most industries everywhere.
I came up with "proxy memes", memes that act in the place of something else. It can be good to have words sometimes to describe things and reason. You can recognize a proxy meme when all it does is prevent attention paid to the meme it substitutes. The word "proxy meme" is a portmanteau describing a "proxy war for the mind". A proxy war is fought to avoid fighting the actual war, and, in the same way, a proxy meme becomes the subject of attention to avoid focusing on the actual topic that it substitutes, often serving as a pacifier within a social dominance hierarchy, a false narrative that is agreed upon, a majority delusion, that only exists to avoid breaking rank, enforced by the serotonin system.
