Over the last few months of COVID madness I've been keeping myself sane by doing a lot of DIY projects.
Our apartment in the center of Tel Aviv has a large outdoor open terrace and covered balcony that has given me man cave space despite the uber-urban location.
It is a new apartment so there is a lot of work to do to make it home.
I'm going to mainly tell this story in pictures.
The new DIY Phillips Hue Ensis light I built.
Essential 3D printing software and the crucial end pieces of the light.
The end result - hanging in our kitchen.
And another longer version hanging in our outside dining area (with man cave work area and tools visible).
Done while juggling twins!
And a crazy 2.5 year old
as well as two teenage children.
Essential tools
3D printer - Ender 3 Pro - Life changing addition to my tool set.
Serious hammer drill.
(Our apartment is all concrete construction so you need a big drill to attach anything to it.)
Big DIY Project - Raised Bed Vegetable Garden with robot gardener (Farm.bot)
Setting out
First two layers with cross support
3D Printed corner brackets
Waterproofing and drainage
Ensuring top layer of wood is 100% straight and level to act as rail for robotic gardener.
Raised bed structure complete.
Transporting 150 bags of soil from street level using kids' prams.
Reuse of material from pallet bags as waterproofing.
Gravel bags ready.
My daughter loved playing on the soil bags.
Gravel level complete.
2/3rds full with soil with drip irrigation installed.
Raised bed garden complete.
Farm.bot Gardening Robot delivered.
Opening the box.
Gardening Robot installed.
I'll be doing a more detailed post on my gardening robot once I've got it 100% working.
I hope you've enjoyed a glimpse into my man cave.
