Well we recently passed the 6 month mark on our journey here in Mexico. I was extremely fortunate to qualify for a covid exemption regarding my visa. We were all given 180 days on tourist visas, but since I had visited back in March, I qualified for an exemption which allowed me to gain my 4 year temporary residency status which I completed here in Mexico. Normally, you need to start the process out of the country, so I lucked out big time.
My wife and kids will get their's sooner than later, once all of our paperwork is translated into Spanish and I have my official card.
The bar/restaurant is doing really well, albeit for a lack of employees and Mexican logistical nightmares. This is definitely not how it works back in the states, but it's a give and take. I'm learning by fire, it's been good, but I've gotten burned a few times. Everything is a learning experience though, so I'm grateful regardless.
This is our first Christmas away from family, and absent snow and negative degree weather. It feels sooooooo weird. It's 77 degrees here right now, and there's not a cloud in the sky. Probably going to the beach later, it will be even more weird having my feet in the sand, but it will awesome to spend some quality time with the family.
The wife spent the other day helping the kids write their wishlist to Santa. It was hilarious and they were so excited. My son Hayek kept asking when Santa was coming, lol. They have transitioned so much more since the first few months, it's really cool to see.
Their Spanish is really improving and they're making new friends.
I hope you all are doing well, enjoying life, soaking up great times with friends and loved ones.
From my family to yours, we wish you all a very Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, and a blessed New Year.
Hive on y'all!
