The reason Microsoft and Facebook are teaming up in the first place is because they want to ensure robust infrastructure is in place to take advantage of their cloud computing initiatives.

Presently world's fastest internet speed is 43 Tbps. To give you a better idea of the speeds here, 43Tbps equals a transfer rate of around 5.4 TB per second.
