After a bit of a break I am back with some more microscope videos I recorded. These are both at a magnification of 40x.
This first video shows an organism which is approximately 60 microns in length. I'm not 100% sure but I think it is a ciliate called Stylonychia. It's from sample of industrial waste water.
Trying to keep up with it was quite difficult as it is a fast swimmer and kept moving out of the field of view.
This second video shows a different organism which I think is Euplotes. I was playing around with the digital camera's settings to try and get better contrast - this is why everything appears blue. In this case the water sample came from the inside of a rainwater tank overflow pipe. This is why boiling tank water is always a good idea. You never know what might be swimming in it.
