Over the years, I have struggled to work effectively with a team because I mostly do things on my own. I prefer using the methods I developed over that period. I believed my methods were effective in most situations, and they helped me accomplish many of my goals. However, I’ve come to realize that while my approach works well for me, not everyone is able to adapt to it. People with a different mindset often find it difficult to follow my way of thinking, and I’m starting to worry that they are either reluctant to follow or that my methods are becoming outdated.
Questions like this have started to linger in my mind, which is why I often find myself reflecting on it. I’ve been thinking about consulting with younger professionals to understand their mindset. Sometimes, it’s not that people aren’t smart enough to understand my methods. I’m beginning to think that maybe my methods just don’t apply anymore. Perhaps they’ve lost their relevance in today’s context.
And whenever I think that way, I start to feel old. I guess I need to have more conversations with younger professionals, seek their advice, and see if I can adapt to the current times. Hopefully, this will help me work better with the younger staff in the office.
At this point, I see my doubts as a good sign. They are an indication that I should open myself up to new and fresh ideas about how to make things work.
Embracing change isn't always easy, but it's necessary for growth. By listening, learning, and staying open to new ideas, I believe I can continue to evolve both personally and professionally. This journey of adaptation is just beginning, and I’m hopeful for what lies ahead.
