If you had the chance to learn only one thing about Steemit, what would that be?
So it's true, Steemit is that very rare space on the internet where you can pen down your thoughts and potentially get paid for it. It's that place where you get rewarded for being social; both monetarily and otherwise. Steemit is an amazing community on the inside but we don't always get through to the inside immediately.
Steemit is like a gigantic machine with lots of moving parts and all these moving parts are presented to you at once. You're expected to understand them and weave your way around to get to the inside. Most times, when we stare down at this humongous beast, we consider our options and decide to drop the idea. It's always a daunting task, even to the ones who put in the work and make it through.
Could Steemit do a much better work in terms of creating a friendlier first impression? Definitely!
Should the absence of a friendly first impression put you off completely? I don't think so.
He who knows how to ask for directions will never get lost. - Yoruba Proverb
This is true and can be adapted to all walks of life. Every endeavor we embark on always has a way it had been functioning before we arrived and even if our plan is to change this, we still have to learn the basics first. But in the Steemit ocean, how do you even know what the basics is? Every turn you make, you find a thousand questions you need answers to. Everything seems weird and complicated and the excuse they all give for this is that Steemit is first of its kind and something on this scale has never been done before.
But hey, we have a deal to not complain anymore yeah? We acknowledge that there are a lot of things to learn and learning just one or a few won't guarantee total success because they all work hand in hand. So what we'll do is pick a point to start from and then walk our way up.
Some Questions
There are questions people have been asking me lately and it's funny because all the answers they need are right there on the welcome page and because of the weird space I currently find myself, instead of just relating the issue to Steemit only, my head wandered off into the dark forests of my thoughts and kicked in motion this process. I have however provided below, the top questions I get asked and their answers as per the welcome page.
- How do I write a post?
- How do I get followers on Steemit?
- How do I get noticed on Steemit?
- How do I make money on Steemit?
- What can I write about on Steemit?
- What's Steem, SBD, and Steem Power?
I know those are just a tiny bit of all the questions we have, but each one is a link to a post where you can find some answers.
The truth is that all the other answers you seek are just a search away. I want to believe every question you have would have been covered by some post at one time or the other.
How Does This Tie Into Life?
We should really learn to ask questions because there in lies the key to all the doors we want open and even others we didn't imagine we would need.
There's always the possibility of getting overwhelmed by the magnitude of the task at hand but if you realize, as I have recently come to, that all you need is that first step, your world will become a much better place. There's a lot you can achieve but you need to break them down into bits. You don't necessarily need to figure out what the right starting point is, just pick a point and start from there. You can then easily work your way forward or backward from there.
It's really that simple, feel overwhelmed, break gigantic mission into smaller goals, pick one goal to start with, then work your way up or down through the other goals.
Since we have agreed to go one step at a time, I want you to share with me what your number one priority is; If you could learn one thing about Steemit, what will it be?
