It is with great pleasure and fantastical thrill that the Minnow Support Project announces our newest publicly elected witness to join the Minnow Support Project as a strategic leader in Discord. You know him, you love him, he's probably stopped some abuse that was effecting you! IT'S @drakos!!!!
@drakos has been in the Minnow Pond helping minnows, coaching other witnesses on the technicalities of running a witness, fighting abuse, and supporting art on the platform. His long term goal is to build a spying free email system available to all Steemians. He's a great influence and is clearly a passionate advocate for Steemit. He also passed the requirements of 10 PV on his witness, 100 votes for his witness, and general approval/ consensus of the other managing witnesses.
In honor of his appointment the Minnow Support Project will be running a contest to support a new Witness. Witnesses are the lifeblood of Steemit. They create the chain, they program cool tools, they build community, they are ambassadors of the platform, and they are passionate and tireless advocates of Steemit. We want to make more of them. We're not promising glory and riches. It's often a long slog, a tough road, and sometimes even humiliating to make your way up the Witness ranks, but if you love this place, you know what it is capable of doing, and can be a passionate advocate for Peace, Abundance, and Liberty than the Minnow Support Project is ready to back you with 100 SBD.
What if you don't have the technical skills? Well, that's where Drakos comes in. The Minnow Support Project is providing financial support. Our newest community supporting Witness is providing domain expertise and time. He'll help you get it up and running and work with you over the first two months to get your witness launched!
Unlike other contests from the Minnow Support Project you don't have to be a Minnow to win. This is about finding the best and brightest person for the job. Witnesses often come as either technical witnesses with a programming background or social witnesses with a community building skillset. Talk about your skills, why you think you'd make a good witness, what services you offer, how you help the block now, and preference will be given to those that have been active with the Minnow Support Project in some way, shape, or form.
To win you'll make a post and link it in the comment section below before this post hits payout. The publicly elected witnesses will talk about entries and narrow down to a few of the best options. We'll make a second post presenting the narrowed down folks and ask them for a second post about their plans and how they will execute on them. We'll then launch the final where we pick a winner.
It's good publicity, good training, and good for the ecosystem (current witnesses below rank 60 are welcome to apply).
