How have we used and abused power in our life?

Although, it doesn’t look like an intelligence test, this image is just that.

It offers us a picture of a famous person — but set in multiple contexts. Each context asks us to imagine him in a different way. Most of us — especially young people — are familiar with the MLK for whom there is a national holiday.

But did we arrive at our understanding of this man through a shallow or a deep understanding of his life — including considerations of his time, how he was raised, how he suffered, how he was discriminated against, how he inspired, how he was beaten and incarcerated?

In order to see MLK as he IS, or as close to who he is as we CAN see him, we need to see and integrate all those different facets at once - in a sort of "spirit" grab.

But doing that involves understanding something about the nature of POWER … and I think most people, when they get to that turn in the story, are not entirely sure what to do next.

Among all the facts, trivia and B.S. that education/indoctrination asks us to digest and regurgitate, very little of that addresses will ever address the true nature and function of power

As it manifests in all our lives, power is the question and how we deal with it is the answer. How have we used and abused power in our life?

It may not seem obvious to you, but looking at this picture raises all those questions.

The fact is that there is a personal version of “Lord of the Rings” on a sort of constant replay in the theater of your mind and heart.

If we observe and use power wisely, we come to much greater understanding about the nature of the world, reality and each other — and all that good stuff.
