I visited more than 50 countries, lived in the wilderness of Canada, went on the most beautiful beaches in the Carribean, visited the most incredible cities and sacred places in Asia and South America...
And all this for an average of $10/day!!!
How?
Well, there are many solutions that very few know, but today I will reveal them to you!!!
The first thing to know is that many countries are way, way cheaper than we think...
For example, when I traveled in India or Bolivia, the price of a cheap room was between 1 and $4 per night.
(I was in India two times, once 7 years ago and the second time 4 years ago, and the price had already changed... Same with Bolivia where I was 6 years ago. Nevertheless, prices are 10 times cheaper than in Western countries...)The second solutions that make traveling cheap and that is related to accommodation are websites where you can find locals who want to host you for free, as a mean to share and exchange together (about each other's cultures, habits, foods...), one of the websites I used for many years is: couchsurfing.com
For the last 3 years, I have also been living rent-free by doing pet sitting... When pet owners go on vacations, they need someone to take care of their pets and home, allowing us to live in their house for free!
Many websites are offering these services and some of them are even paying you to do so...
Like: nomador.com or animalangels.co.ukThe third information that will help you to travel (and live) on a lower budget is to buy your own food and/or street food. When you go to the market and buy your own fruits and vegetables instead of buying readymade meals, you save tons of money. And in certain countries, buying street food is even cheaper than buying your own food. I often eat for 1 or $2 per meal, having a soup and the main dish in Peru for example or for even less in Asia when buying street food...
The fourth tip is related to time/transportation. Obviously in many countries, taking the local buses is super cheap. But the main difference in your budget will be noticeable when you will travel for longer periods. When you take a two weeks vacation, your budget for flying representing one of the biggest expense. But when you take one flight to go Asia for example and you stay there for a year, the price of your flights are spread over a one year period. When brought back to a daily budget, your flights are only a few dollars. For example, paying $600 of plane ticket per year represents only a budget of $1.64/day.
The fifth and last tip is related not to what you spend but with what you don't spend. If you travel/live around the world for extended periods, you don't have to pay a loan (or you can rent your place) or rent, you don't have to pay electricity or phone bills, you don't have to pay certain taxes and much more...
