A good reason for the noticed rise of Ripple and its institutional acceptance is because this currency is an instrument for access to centralized blockchains that allow to reduce costs and therefore fall within the current economic or rather financial logic...
There is a political-economical short-sighted where the main players seek to profit from the liberation of wealth by doing so only at the expense of preexisting wealth, namely by reducing inputs to increase return on investment without having to create new wealth. The end of this speculative process only becomes evident when there is no more wealth to release and the financial house of cards collapses (again) hurting economy very badly.
Perhaps the "blueprint" is simply to push the problem forward... but fortunately truly decentralized cryptocurrencies can frustrate this plan.
