I love Sundays. But I especially LOVE GrandSlam Sundays!
What an amazing night as we watched my Favourite Tennis Player, the KING OF CLAY -- Rafael Nadal play at the 2018 French Open Finals!
Born in Spain in 1986, Nadal began playing tennis at age 3 under his Uncle Toni, a former professional tennis player. At 8 years old, Nadal won an under-12 regional tennis championship.
It was his uncle that convinced Nadal to play left-handed, thinking it could give him an extra edge on the court. At just 12, he won the Spanish and European tennis titles in his age group and later turned pro at 15!
At the age of 19 in 2005, Nadal won his first #FrenchOpen! And that was just the beginning of his LOVE affair with #RolandGarros... winning it in total 11 Times (2005-2008, 2010-2014, 2017, 2018).
An amazing feat no man has ever done in the Open Era.
Here's 3 Reasons Why I like Nadal...
1. FIGHT
He always gives his 100%, fighting for every point and not giving up, unlike a few players that I've seen just throw the game away.
2. FITNESS
He is not just super Fit, he is extremely Quick as well! That says a lot about his Fitness level!
3. FOCUS
He knows he plays his BEST tennis on Clay, so he focuses on that court most. Having said that, he has also WON on the 3 other Grand Slam courts plus the Olympic Gold Medal!
#GrandSlam Sundays are MORE special when I can spend it with my 81 year old Dad who just enjoys watching Tennis. (sorry that your horse Djokovic could not come out and play, LOL). And I take these times a whole lot more seriously after my Dad's brush with Cancer end 2017 till a month ago.
So Blessed to be in KL this round with him.
