...continued...
There is no denying the fact that we have at one point or the other wish to swap places with certain people, so we can enjoy what they are enjoying and be in their shoes because we feel they are better and they have it easy. You wouldn’t want to be in their shoes I must tell you. No one has the capacity to bear what only you can bear. What I have gone through in this life, if another person should go through it, that person will crumble, and the same goes for me. If I try to go through what many others have gone through, only because I admire the life they have, I would not only fold, I would crumble and be completely shattered.
It is easy to relate to the glory without knowing the story. We have different capacity to go through all we are to go through. Don’t wish to have another person’s life, because you don’t know what they have gone through. Wishing for their life means downloading all their troubles too. There is no shortcut. There is no glory without a story attached to it.
Learn from their stories instead, it will open your eyes to know your struggles isn’t new. Others have it worse. You might think yours is the worst, wait till you hear another person’s story.
Comparison has eaten so deep into most people that they have lost their peace and confidence. Don’t hinder your potentials because you are trying to measure up. You don’t have to wake up each morning hoping to impress people. Be you. Be original. Be the best version of yourself. Strive to be better than you were yesterday. Let the revolution start from within and as earlier said if you even need to compare yourself with another, let it be to make you better, and not for you to think you are failing.
Most of the time we measure our success based on material things, based on physical things. “Oh, she is married”, “What? He bought another car?”, “Oh, he has more SBD than me, that means this platform isn’t for me”. To avoid this trap, I don’t bother myself to check people’s wallet. You have to know yourself and be intentional about it. If checking it would make you want to intensify efforts and re-strategize, absolutely!. That’s perfect, but the motivation has to be from within, because if it is from without, the motivation can never be sustained for long. From motivation it would lead to sadness, from sadness, it would lead to anger, from anger, it would lead to self-doubt, from self-doubt to depression. This thing has a way of spreading.
Know yourself. Know what gives you motivation and let it swell up from your inside. Remember, no one knows you better than you. Stop comparing yourself to others and basing achievements on material things. Find out what motivates you and step out of your comfort zone and DO!.
Thank you for your time.
