CHARacter wIZARD, fresh from his victory at the Steemit RPG: Battle Royale is feasting on a wildcrafted meal of nuts and forage. It had been too easy, he thought, to outsmart and outcompete all those dragons and robots and pirates and other wizards and random number generators…
There had to be something more! He felt called to continue his adventure, and set out across the Steemian Plains, making sure to leave a Hyperlink Portal in order to be able to return and defend his title at any time.
CHARacter wIZARD continued to travel across the landscape, pondering on his destiny and intricacies of the universe. He kept many interesting and ancient books with him in a small pocket universe situated slightly below his left armpit, and he constantly reviewed and rechecked different parts, cross-referencing and taking notes in the margins when the terrain didn’t need tending to.
As he drew upon and eventually into the rocky steppes, he could no longer read and walk, needing instead to pay closer attention to where he put his feet. Pity, as he was becoming more and more interested in a faded chapter near the end of a dusty old book he had picked up at a magical rummage sale a few towns back.
His mind began to wander…the book seemed to suggest not only that there were other dimensions, but that they could be accessed by portals. Would CHARacter wIZARD have to leave this plane of existence to find his next challenge?
He came to a protected outcropping and set himself down, and pulled out the old book again, slapping it open against the ground and propping himself forward against his knees. The ritual the book proposed was the most complicated thing he had ever seen. It appeared to ‘Propel user in X-est dimension’….whatever that meant.
He pulled out a small bit of mineral carbon, and began to trace strange simples against the rock and dust spread around him. He was experimenting, slowly trying to understand what he was doing while he was doing it. His thirst for adventure urged him forward; perhaps there was an additional inter-dimensional pull working that he still hadn’t identified…..
It seemed that the incredibly powerful spell depended on one key variable, with only a cryptic question to go on….’What do you seek?’
He hesitated for a moment, considering the risk-reward on unleashing an untested and little understood spell; the push and pull were too strong, was CHARacter wIZARD even in control anymore?
He quickly sketched the ancient rune for CHALLENGE:
His hands seemed to be moving on their own accord now, something from another dimension was calling to him, across space and time he could feel something urging him on, it was as if the very MASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE needed his help.
Clouds swirled overhead, and as the last scratches of mineral flecked into the gritty stone, lightning struck. Through space and time CHARacter wIZARD’s ego soared, exploding with images and information too compact to understand, coursing with the power of 1.21 Jigawatts.
Again and again the lightning struck, memories, images, steemlords, a whole new personality; it was all being forced into his head altogether too quickly for comprehension, let alone acceptance. Finally his physical body fell away, back to the ground, back to that old world where he once was, where he once walked, where he once what?
His ego flew across the vast expanse of the cosmos, whirled around the spiraled 11th dimensional spaces deep within the cortex of the creator mind. As he came out the other side, slowly it seemed as if mass had meaning, elemental particles began to accumulate around his aura and he grew thicker and heavier, but he who?
As he had looked across the ever widening expanse of the universe, he could feel the simple truth, he had become the simple truth. His realizations began to manifest themselves audibly, as a spoken voice, or several. The elements, as the ancients knew them, the essences of all things.
The land, the soil, the rocks and trees
FIRE
pure energy unleashed from mass
WIND
balance and pressure, equilibrium
WATER
flow and cycle, fresh and wet
HEART

Out of the earth he rose, into another space altogether. He could fly! And fly he did, and as he flew he continued to come into focus, to reassert his realness. He felt powerful, connected. Who was he?
Champion, yes something about a Steemian plain?
Captain.
Yes Captain! He had a rank now!
He focused his mind, drawing the breath of wind deep into his lungs and centering his heart energies.
Challenge. There's adventure afoot and maybe even civilizations to save!
And possibly villians.....
