Such dramatic music. As the world continues to stay in total lockdown, movie release schedules move around endlessly. The Batman was intended to be release on June 25, 2021, but since production on that movie has been stopped due to coronavirus, the movie will now come out on October 1, 2021. In case you didn't know The Batman's production's dialect coach, Andrew Jack, passed away from coronavirus and production has been suspended indefinitely, although rumors are that production will recommence in the middle of May.
June release dates are coveted and Venom 2 jumped on the opportunity. The movie was set to come out on October 2, 2020, but it is now a summer movie. It also means that Sony might feel that audiences will not yet be willing to return to the cinema on October. October was pretty good to the previous Venom movie which made 851 million dollars. That's not an encouraging thought.
A more engorging alternative idea is that it's a summer movie. More action, more fun, and closer to Spider-Man 3 which is set to come out three weeks later on July 16, 2021. Should we expect a cross-over? Maybe a lot of references to Spider-Man and a cameo. But it is an interesting and fun idea.
Also, the movie is not called Maximum Carnage like a lot of fans speculated. They might save that for the third Venom movie, or not use it at all. Non-comic book audiences won't get the references either way.
Will people go to see Venom and Spider-Man three weeks later? I am not sure. It might be not a smart decision financially. I go see a movie a month tops. When there were movies.
Will you go see Venom 2 and Spider-Man 3?
