I just realized it's been 29 Days since I made a real post to Steem. There have been some live streaming games since then, but not an actual written post in just shy of a month.
The reason for this?
Well, things have been busy. We just sold a house and bought a new house, because we're finally moving. We've been living in Quebec for about 4.5 years, and we're absolutely sick of it. We finally got the chance to move back to Nova Scotia.
The Old House
And the New House
Looking at these two pictures side by side, I'm so glad to be getting some trees. There are so many other things I'm looking forward to as well, but living on a farm field for about a half decade will make me never do that again at any other house. Not only is it more sheltered from the wind among the trees, but there's also something else to them that just makes a house nicer. There's more privacy, it's quieter, there's plenty more birds and other wildlife to see, and the pine trees cut down on the mowing. Sitting on the back deck listening to the wind rustle through the trees while the birds sing and fly from branch to branch is much better than listening to the wind as it whips you in the face; and no birds.
Plus, I'm moving from the smaller piece of land to over 2 acres of trees. It might be a bit of a shock to have so much room to move around without leaving my own property. And if I do want to wander off the property, there's the old railroad track that has been changed into a walking trail along the back of the property. I'll have to make a trail through the woods because I'm sure I'll be taking a few walks/bikes/skis back there as the trail is literally endless.
Asking About Cryptocurrency At The Bank
The person at the bank went through their usual set of questions to make sure we were good to go. This is not our first house so I've been through all of it before. One thing that was different this time around was my ability to slip in plug for cryptocurrency to gauge their reaction. It was exactly as I thought it would be.
Once the banker got finished asking me about my income and assets, they finished with, "Is there anything other assets you have?"
I answered with, "Not unless you count my gold, silver, and cryptocurrency."
The answer I got was exactly what I thought they'd do. It was a simple, "No, I'm talking about other stocks and bonds," as a reply, and I knew that's what she meant, but the expression on her face was really telling. It was sort of a mix between, "Oh not another one" and "I'm not allowed to talk about that because we're told not to."
She quickly moved us along to the next phase of the meeting after that, but it was getting to that anyway. I just find it funny that they aren't even interested in hearing what it might be worth even though they were interested in things like vehicles and boats - which would be much harder to liquify short term if they ever got ahold of them. Or is it that they can't get ahold of my cryptocurrency, gold, and silver so there's no use talking about it?
It's just so sad that a banker doesn't realize that gold of all things is actually quite valuable. Had I said jewelry, they probably would have asked for the value. But because I clumped the three together, they completely dismissed it.
I'll think back to this in a couple of years when we'll probably be able to go into the bank and exchange our fiat for cryptocurrency. The banks will be different then, but I'll still think back to it and laugh - hopefully because cryptocurrency payed off my mortgage. But maybe just because, even if it all doesn't go to the moon shortly, it's still going to be adopted and used and this banker didn't see it.
I've got a bunch more work to do to get ready for this move. So, if I'm not making any posts, it's because I just don't have time or I'm too tired in the evenings to get any posting motivation. Hopefully I'll find some time to post, but don't think I quit if I don't.
