Perhaps Mrs. Mosquito was just trying to make friends...
It was just that her - solo - zooming around Hypersensitivosaurus' head, attempting to communicate in her annoying, incomprehensible language was one thing, but inviting her entire family, to haunt him at night and to feast on his hypersensitive blood was an entirely different story.
This wasn't the best way to make friends, to say the least.
That particular night, Hypersensitivosaurus went on a rampage, Godzilla style ( but then without destroying buildings ). He might have lost a couple of hours of sleep, but the mosquito family suffered at least a dozen casualties and Hypersensitivosaurus came out of the battle with just some itchy spots on his hypersensitive skin and a morning temper that lasted the entire day.
He did his utmost best to get rid of this 'bloody' mood, on the chessboard, that day. His furry friend and chess partner, M.M. Wolf, got everything thrown his way ( that is: figuratively ). Moody or not, Hypersensitivosaurus was a fair player.
I wrote the above, yesterday afternoon ( aside from a tiny bit of tweaking, just now ).
Here's some Backstory:
It's fair to say that - in the last week or so - I have been dealing with a serious amount of mosquitoes, in my bedroom at night.
As is usually the case, these annoying little buggers tend to come out late at night,
when I am about to fall asleep.
Unfortunately, there's so many of them, that - even if I manage to swat, squish, splat
( or whatever you wanna call it ) a dozen or so of them,
I still don't get them all.
Eventually, I fall asleep hours later than planned ( with my head buried underneath the blanket, not too comfortable, hard to breathe ).
And if it's my (un)lucky day, I get woken up, again and again, throughout the night.
Although I try to not be bothered by it too much and it helps a lot that I don't have a day job and can wake up whenever I feel like it, these broken nights aren't great.
It makes my days extra slow, starting out in zombie mode.
I need to come from a deep place, slowly crawling out of my slow motion state.
My very first drawing of 'Mrs. Mosquito' and of Hypersensitivosaurus (s)lashing out at her, with his razorsharp raptor nails, at night, almost drawing blood.*
I recorded this in an audio file today, while on a walk:
How many signs from the universe do you need, before you pick up on them?
How many nights - haunted by mosquitoes - do I need, before I realize that I could actually spend the time hunting mosquitoestrying to sleepfocusing on my writing? Focusing on writing 'Hypersensitivosaurus and Mrs. Mosquito' and sleep when I'm actually tired enough.
Today, it finally became clear to me that, not only could I use this as inspiration ( Mrs. Mosquito is a character in my dinoverse, after all ), I could also make use of these sleepless hours, to actually work on my Mrs. Mosquito stories / my Hypersensitivosaurus and Mrs. Mosquito book instead of trying to sleep - and failing at it - while battling these bloodsucking bed bugs.
In fact, I plan to do exactly this - focus on writing - if they reach out to me again, tonight.
I once heard someone say, that if mosquitos keep coming for you ( especially when they zoom around your ears ), they might have a message for you. And, unless you really listen to them, they will keep coming back.
So, perhaps these melgas ( as we call them in Portugal ) are telling me to focus on writing 'Mrs. Mosquito', right now, instead of my other books.
I also realized, today, that this is a chance for me to focus on two books at once:
I can keep sculpting away at 'Hypersensitivosaurus and Cold Turkey' ( planned to be my first book release ) and - if I feel like it - I can spend some time on 'Hypersensitivosaurus and M.M. Wolf' ( about two buddies who meet for chess games and homemade oatmeal pancakes ), during the day. And - if the mosquitoes come to me, at night - I can craft 'Mrs. Mosquito'.
Two flies mosquitoes in one swat.*
*"Two flies in one swat" is how we translate (killing) "two birds with one stone", in Dutch.

Another illustration by me of Hypersensitivosaurus and Mrs. Mosquito battling it out.
Or, who knows, perhaps your favorite dino is just waving ( his hand ) at his noisy little friend, trying to grab her attention? ;<)

More backstory on me and mosquitoes:
The first 21 years of my life, I spent in Gouda, The Netherlands.
Although most who don't know this place wouldn't think so, this city is constructed upon a moor ( peaty soil ) - it used to be all water and swamp - and thus it attracts loads of mosquitoes. Aside from that, my parental house is located close to a river. 1 + 1 = plenty of mosquitoes. Usually from around March up till November. I have battled with them since I was young. And even now, living in Portugal, at the age of 40, I can't manage to escape them. It doesn't help to be a hypersensitive light sleeper.
2021: The Winter has been warm and humid here, and I am renting a house close to a river, these days. It's ideal circumstances for Mrs. Mosquito and her friends and family ;>)
