Seemingly tough times are weighing down on the holders of STEEM. Seemingly!
One STEEM is still one STEEM for those who hodl.

Can't Hodl

MSP Waves is not in a position to hodl. We pay our servers with STEEM. With changing STEEM prices the amount of STEEM we pay varies greatly. Lower STEEM prices require a higher amount of STEEM to be paid, relative to the STEEM/USD rate.

In order to provide a reliable broadcast service and sub-services such as Steemix, Discord bots, and our backup infrastructure, we have chosen the cheapest, yet the strongest solution available on the market. We are leasing one high-spec server and one low-spec server with Privex. Great reliable service.

@r0nd0n has spent many hours experimenting with alternative, very cheap, mostly gaming services, which, unfortunately, do not meet our service requirements due to lack of configurability of these servers.

En large, MSP Waves has been able to retain and gain listenership. This is due to the amazing quality of existing and new shows we recently added to our lineup.

SMTs = Part Stake

With the introduction of STEEM based Smart Tokens (SMTs) early next year, our business model will change in that we issue rewards and part-ownership/stake in our amazing station. We look to consistently reward our hardworking DJ's and co-hosts, our dedicated operations-team volunteers and our loyal audience for being part of MSP Waves. We see a bright future for STEEM, MSP Waves and all that take part on STEEM-based platforms.

Currently - Not-For-Profit

However, right now, we are not a money making operation. Even with the gracious support of @utopian-io and @reggaemuffin, our server expenses exceed our post earnings at this time. We do not pay our volunteers nor our DJ's and co-hosts, though we would love to. We have a consistent trail of upvotes for our daily @vimm posts, but they rarely reach even one SBD.

Therefore, we need you!

Talent Wanted

With that said, until the introduction of SMTs (part-stake), we continue to rely on volunteer talent here on MSP Waves.

We are looking for

Head of Marketing

Someone motivated to build a team of MSP Waves Champions that promote MSP Waves within the community and beyond.
Someone with successful project experience in producing and marketing merchandise, such as mugs, coasters, USB-Dsticks, t-shirts, stickers, and so on.

Dedicated writers

Currently, @r0nd0n and I are posting one MSP Waves update per week. With our Station Manager duties and operational responsibilities and hosting of our own shows, we are at capacity. Therefore, we are looking for a trusted and talented person who loves to write and promote MSP Waves.

Operations Team

Four dedicated people, mainly @r0nd0n, @meno, @pechichemena and I are making sure every show goes live as scheduled, sound-checked beforehand while maintaining our infrastructure. We need more boots on the ground. Reliable folks with a good ear for sound checks that are familiar with OBS and have basic Linux and SSH knowledge are the caliber of team members that should apply. From an operations point of view, 4 people with 24x7x365 responsibilities are not enough boots on the ground to guarantee uninterrupted programming in the long term. If you think you are a good fit, please contact @r0nd0n for a trusted position in the Operations team.

More Shows - Spanish Speaking - Venezuela

We have had recent calls to add shows with hosts based in Venezuela. This provides a challenge, as the minimum internet service requirements are not met. Often less than one-half a megabit of speed barely allow a discord conversation. One solution could be that a Venezuelan DJ partners up with a remote host with a strong internet connection and dials in the DJ via SKYPE while being able to participate in the interactive Discord MSPWW-Audience channel. If you are a DJ already or would like to become a host for a Venezuelan DJ, please contact @r0nd0n or @globocop.

More Shows - Asia-Pacific, Europe

We have plenty of free programming slots during Asia-Pac and European times. Admittedly, there may not be so many listeners in the Americas during these times slits, but if you are tied to a local Steemit community, you probably have an audience to build on. With that, though, we will also need Operation Staff that will be able to attend these shows. Growing pains.

A Look into the Future

Eventually, with a growing Steemit community and increased marketing, we will also branch out to other, more traditional platforms to broadcast to. We envision a MSP Waves with different stations that offer MSPW-1, 2, etc by program category such as Music, Talk, Language, etc. We here, at MSP Waves, are excited. We are dedicated and committed to growing YOUR station in quality and quantity. And we can do it quicker with your help!
