Stian Westerhus is amazing experimental guitarist from Norway, who studied jazz and contemporary music in UK and northern city of Trondheim. Known as relentless sound innovator with tendency to distort his guitar sound literally beyond any recognition, definition and characterization, he is huge contributor of "contrast approach" towards modern music – most of his songs (at least of later period) combine behemoth heaviness of granular noise with subtle hyper-sensitive melodic patterns brought by his exquisite voice. "How Long" is an absolute gem from his latest album, beautiful yet horrifying shapeshifter with super-catchy chorus, made of baroque pop and fierce but perfectly structured cacophony. Bizarre and yummy.
