Brothers and Sisters of Sorrow [beat 178]
Brothers and Sisters of Sorrow is roughly my 178th beat since I began a 21-day challenge of making one beat a day. I say roughly because most of my music has a beat of some sort. I haven't assigned a number to each upload because most of my recent releases have been more like songs. Anyways, beat 178 was originally a voice memo I recorded as a beatbox last Tuesday. Though 178 could definitely be fleshed out into a full piece, the first upload of it here is certain to make you swing your hips and get down.. it's a seriously fun beat! :)
Interview/Job Search
Have you clicked the green link above yet? ...great! While that's streaming for you, I'd love to catch you up on a few recent things in my life. Firstly, I have had two job interviews for the job I took the test for. There were 200 testers and only 13 people passed the exam. I was one of the lucky ones who passed. Yay!
The first interview went really well. They asked me about 17-20 questions about my resume, among other things. I had the interview last Tuesday, and upon arriving home, I got a call from their HR department about setting up another interview for Thursday! Fastest I've ever heard back about an interview. Thursday rolled around, and this interview was more formal and intense by far. They only asked me 10-12 questions. There were three people, and they weren't showing any emotion, so when I left from there, I didn't know how to gauge how well I did. When the interview was wrapping up, they told me they had a lot more interviews to go but that they'd reach out to me with results. I imagine I'll hear something within a week or so because I have an inside source who tells me they are still having interviews! I have positive vibes about this! The sooner I get started working the sooner I can afford to get this next phase of my life rolling! I've never been more ready and prepared for action in my life!
The New Diet Begins! :)
In other news, I have recently finished The Obesity Code by Fung! I'm overwhelmed with the strong case he puts forth about losing fat. I'm not severely obese by any stretch of the means, but after finishing the book yesterday morning, I decided that I'd begin intermittent fasting. So as of the writing of this post, I have been fasting for 40'30"! From my experience so far, I have to report that while I did experience some hunger, today I haven't have any issues today with hunger whatsoever! I have less brain fog than I can remember in my past. Also, my mood has increased significantly. I feel much more vital and competent. I know this is partly because of glycogenesis as well as raising levels of adrenaline as my body has begun to break down stored fat into glucose for energy. But also, I know this boost in mood, vitality and competency is from the sheer willpower I've exercised over my love for food! In short, if you are wanting to lose weight, fasting is a no-cost solution that takes no extra planning, dieting, etc. There are myriad myths surrounding fasting, but the facts wholly supportive against the false claims. Our bodies are amazing and have incredible methods for solving problems of weight loss. Our minds ultimately keep us from losing weight, but the truth is that intermittent fasting is safe, free and [from my own personal experience thus far] life affirming!

My newest song is a lively but introspective piece that uses a bunch of processed vocal snippets over a four-on-the-floor dance groove. I've spent a lot of time sculpting the drum sounds, as well as creating a bit of interesting rhythmic variation around the main groove. There are a few other fun samples in there as well. To fill out the frequency spectrum, I used the resampling feature within Ableton Live. The resampling feature helps add more "3-dimensionality" to the various sounds in the track, which helps improve the character of the overall stereo image. If you have discerning ears, you will notice some of this in the high frequencies, as well as some of the subtle nuances throughout. This piece makes me feel a special way that some of my other beats haven't captured to date. I hope you'll give this one a spin. Also, consider letting me know what you think about what you hear! I love feedback, and who knows?! Maybe you'll help influence what I'm working on now.
