Although many do not believe it, the Venezuelan musical talent specializes mainly in rock. The external face of the country seems to show a trend more urban / tropical, which is not misguided, after all with names like Oscar D'Leon, Simón Díaz, Soledad Bravo or Billo's Caracas Boys orchestra, is inevitable.
But that is not the absolute reality either. My local musical memories, of all my life, have been rock / pop. The best bands have been of these genres.
Although in the 80s there was a fascinating pop explosion, rock has been a constant.
Speaking of rock bands: How is a rock band? This x-ray output of our imagination will make you laugh
One of those legendary bands is Zapato 3, which began its journey to glory in 1984 and dominated the scene until 1999. After a long pause they returned in the new millennium, although more sporadic.
Recently they saw the launch of a book: A very obscene idea, a work in which the author, Gerardo Guarache Ocque, tells the story of this mythical Caracas band.
This, of course, awoke a wave of nostalgia and a tribute from the hand of the New Bands Foundation, an organization that every year is dedicated to finding the best bands in the country, to give them space and recognition.
An initiative from which great names of national rock have emerged.
The tribute to Zapato 3 not only awoke nostalgia for his particular legacy, but for the brand that have left, leave and leave the other talented formations, which may not receive the attention they deserve in favor of more noisy and passing trends.

That Latin idea that rock is not ours has to be overthrown. The concept that only Latin, tropical and danceable rhythms are accepted is wrong and somewhat ignorant.
We had already touched on the subject before: 7 rock bands to celebrate the independence of Venezuela
So today we are going to give us a tour of the best rock, pop / rock bands, and everything that can be put in the box of the anglo that Venezuela has left us, which are not few and that I hope will open the doors to us the ears and hearts of Latin American rockers, and the world.
1 Shoe 3
ADVERTISING
This the obligatory song of the band. To which we open the count for being responsible for inspiring him, and for his weight in the Venezuelan rock scene. Of course, this is neither the best nor the only song, the best thing you can do is review your catalog and hear for yourself.
However, I leave you my personal favorite here.
2 Dead Sentiment
ADVERTISING
You have no idea how difficult it is to choose a song for each of these bands. Sentimiento Muerto is, debatably, the most important and beloved band of the national rock.
I insist on the recommendation to better review the discography. They know what, no. They go in duo.
3 Cyanide Candies
ADVERTISING
Possibly the most international, or one of the most international, rock bands. Although, personally, Caramelos sold his soul to the devil of commercial music and I did not like it that much anymore.
But his first works are worth mentioning and deserve them a high place in this list.
4 Public Disorder
ADVERTISING
Possibly the most influential ska band in Venezuela, or at least the longest. Public Disorder exists since the beginning of time and they are still releasing discs.
Led by Horacio Blanco with his recognizable voice and charisma, this band has managed to maintain the country's musical elite.
5 The Life Bohème
ADVERTISING
Undoubtedly, one of the strongest bands of the current Venezuelan rock scene. This Caracas band won the New Bands Festival in 2008 and since then they have been the flag of national rock.
6 Viniloversus
ADVERTISING
Founded in 2006, this two-bass band is one of the protagonists of the new era of Venezuelan rock that was born with the new millennium.
7 Famasloop
ADVERTISING
This is one of those rock bands that is not afraid to mix with rhythms as different as the tropical ones and give a more fun touch to their music. Among the genres experienced by Famasloop are rock, pop, electronic, hip-hop, African rhythms, Hindi, trip-hop, tango and jazz.
8 The Asbestos
ADVERTISING
This alternative rock band, born in Caracas in 2004, did not see its first single to resonate with the audience until 2009. But it will have been worth the wait, because now it is one of the national rock's reference names.
9 Hidden Cult
ADVERTISING
From 1989 until the present, this band of post-rock and experimental music that was born in Caracas, but that has roots in Spain, has been giving something to talk about in the national rock scene.
10 The Paranoia
ADVERTISING
Versión caraqueña, formed in 2001, is a mix of post-punk rhythms from the 80s and British pop-rock from the 60s. Another one of those bands that formed the new era of national rock in the new millennium.
11 La P Eléctrica
band winner of the New Bands Festival of 1995, was formed the previous year in Caracas and had a parade of members in which the only constant was Norton Pérez, in the voice and guitar. Actually the name of the band is The Electric Whore, but for reasons of censorship they were presented with this alternative title.
