I tried it and I like it because I don't have to use the mouse that much. During production I can easily draft out an arrangement. With the Push I have heavily reduced mouse interaction, which is good for my mouse-stressed body. I cannot use the arrangement view with the Push but there are only a few drawbacks:
- You cannot auto play the scenes from top to bottom, so when making an automation, you have to push a button to go to the next scene. But it still is some skillfull technique/ some "live sessioning" during "automating".
- You cannot automate groups because there is no clip for groups. This is possible only in arrangement view and you have to find a circumvent.
- You have to (almost) always completely hear a scene to get to the end. You cannot the whole scene from an in-between point but only a clip, which means it is harder to fine-chisel the end of a clip.
What especially stands out when working with Clip View
- Direct access to a pre-defined grid laid over your track wtih physical buttons.
- Great for electronic music tracks as they rarely leave a 32/64-pattern.
- Great practice for live acts with the Push.
- Push Push Push !!!
