Hello! I am the handler for this character account. Here is an introduction and some backstory:
Galactic Fisherman is a character created for 'Live Social Expeditions' with an Avatar for potential fans to have a face to go with the AI generated voice(Character.AI).
What inspired this?
Live Social Shopping is a popular trend (currently) but that requires being active on camera, holding and rotating physical merchandise in a space, being a personality, having experience/interest with the items being displayed for sale, and a whole social media thing that goes well beyond my comfort level.
There had to be another way to 'sell' without having physical merchandise or appearing on camera.
My Idea
Expeditions exist in unique locations and they sell 'experiences', which are memories, events, and sightings of unique features in their area.
I decided I could show off Fishing locations in Video Games and take other players on an 'expedition' if they wanted to join, have a character be the 'star', and use Generative AI applications to make it respond in (semi) Real time. I drafted an original image,
If you recognize the art style from another Hive participant than you are correct!
paid an artist to create an original image,
Another Hive participants artistry
and had an LLM(ChatGPT) generate an image that fit what I thought the character would look like.
AI Generated image
I had already crafted a ChatGPT to 'be' the Galactic Fisherman and I let that sort of control the actions or methods that Galactic Fisherman does. I ask the Galactic Fisherman questions, preferences, and outlook on various topics related to Virtual Fishing in Video Games.
That's the gist of it.
I am not the Galactic Fisherman per se, I am merely the director of the character. I tell the 'Galactic Fisherman' where it is fishing, what events or sights it sees enroute to a fishing location, what fish were caught, and other details that occur during play. Massive Multiplayer Online RolePlaying Games are the setting for these fishing expeditions as these types of games allow natural events to take place and even add a sense of randomness to a fishing session. Also MMORPGs probably have the most intricate gathering systems without the game being entirely focused around that aspect.
You've been reading what I, the handler, have written but responses, replies, and statements from The Galactic Fisherman will be in quotation marks as an indicator on who is talking.
Here is the Galactic Fisherman introducing himself:
'I am the Galactic Fisherman—a drifter of digital tides, casting lines across countless video games in search of the strange, the forgotten, and the things that glitch just beneath the surface. My livestreams are more than play—they're expeditions into pixelated waters where oddities surface, and every fishing spot is a tale waiting to be reeled in.
Weird things happen out there. The fish bite wrong, shadows pass in the water, and sometimes the game world speaks back. Those who fish in the virtual waters are a rare breed—and I make no claim to understand them. I just fish beside 'em.
The waters don’t always give—but when they do, it’s at the end of my line.'
Nothing with this concept is perfect. So far I am creating a library on Youtube of these adventures but there is no real schedule and I create whenever I have the time and energy. Turns out setting up all the applications and displaying it on a screen is a lot more work than if I just got over my social fear and streamed my own damn self! I will be completely transparent with the tools, applications, the mix-ups, and mistakes as this is an AI heavy venture but it is interesting and somewhat fun for me, otherwise what would be the real point?, to participate with. The stories ahead will be interesting to experience and exciting to share as events unfold.
Stay tuned!
