We are now officially supporting two scholars!
Because of your generosity we're now able to add Carlo to our program. Both Carlo and our first scholar, Myke, will be receiving regular monthly stipends for the rest of the school year.
Thank you for making it all possible 😊
How to join the ScholarsPH Program
If you are a Filipino student at the tertiary or college level who is in need of financial assistance to sustain your studies, you can start the application process by filling up this form. Once submitted, the scholarship committee will review your application and add you to the list of potential scholars. We already received two applications for the support program, and three more have initially expressed interest in joining.
In the next few weeks, we are planning to open at least two more slots. The @tagalogtrail team will first be reaching out to these candidates to get to know them better. We will then decide to whom to grant the next open slot. It will be a very difficult choice, but a choice that must be made because of limited resources. The team would try its best to deliberate and award the grant to the student who would demonstrate the biggest earnestness to finish their studies and those who needs the financial aid the most.
How to Support the Program
Every bit of support goes a long way. If you'd like to help fund our project so we could help more youth, you can:
- Upvote @scholarsph blog posts. You can resteem them too.
- Transfer Steem or SBD to @scholarsph account. All account funds will be distributed to the students including earned Steem Power.
- Pledge any amount as monthly support for a sponsored student. Pledgers will have the option to choose any candidate from the waitlist.
Bit of Good News: Our first radio show guesting
@chinitacharmer came by as a guest last Saturday on Pennsif's Live Alternative Show to represent @scholarsph. It was quite thrilling seeing the amount of support we get from the international community. Upvotes and comments were amazing enough but a radio show was on a whole different level!
True to her Steemit username, Maine was very charming as she talked about the project, its motivations, and our future plans. If you weren't able to tune in to the show when it went live, you can listen to the the recording. While you're at it, you can also check out and follow @adollarday project and its main guy Chris aka @pennsif.
Transparency Goals: Financial Report
The @scholarsph team aims to make our operations transparent, thus we will be including funding reports in our post at least once a week.
All of the funds received thus far:
Currency | Amount |
---|---|
Pesos | P2000 ($38~) |
SBD | 43.378 |
STEEM | 49.346 |
STEEM Power | 42.273 |
Summary of current funds:
Current Funds (Estimated Value) | Upcoming Month's Spending |
---|---|
$163 | $140 |
Each scholar would be given a $20 allowance at the start of the month. Those that will start on September would still get their undistributed allowance from August and thus would receive $40 within next month's first week. So allocating for three new scholars and one older scholar (Myke) yields:
- $140 = $40 + $40 + $40 + $20
Our deepest gratitude to our biggest sponsors:
