Episode 1: The Main Characters

Please allow us to have our introduction here in Hive individually and as a couple.

MARYCRIS. I got my name from my birthday, which is on Christmas Day (December 25, 1995) just put a "MAS" at the end of my name and you will surely get to know why I named "Marycris". (Belated MARYCRISmas to everyone 🎄.) People who are close to me call me by my nickname “Cring-Cring” (same as the sound of the ringing telephone HAHA🤣). I am fond of taking pictures. As of the moment, I have 27,634 (and counting) pictures stored on my mobile phone. I love cats and own four of them named after chocolate brands: Chocolate, Kitkat, Toblerone, and Kisses. I love long rides and cycling. I love music. I can play the basics of guitar and piano and I’m a swiftie fan. I also love dressing up especially when I’m feeling sad. I love the sea and mountains. It’s calling my name every time. I love and I miss traveling so much since I haven’t been outside Cebu since pandemic.

NIÑO. Howdy! It’s me, your swift dynamic long-distance runner. From time to time I run/jog and occasionally join Marathons which will be one of my content here in hive soon. Anyway, here’s a short weird story about me - I have two birthdays. My first birthday is on January 15 which is the real one (the day that I was born) in which where my name came from – The Patron Saint for Sinulog Festival, a traditional celebration in Cebu City held every third Sunday of January. My second birthday is on March 15 which is the legal one on my birth certificate which is due to midwifes’ clerical error. I am blessed to be having a very big family. I am the youngest among 12 siblings with a total of 21 nieces and nephews. Imagine us having a family gathering, it would look like a grand reunion always! We are situated near the shoreline, sadly, because of the recent typhoon, our house has been severely damaged which I will be sharing here soon. Looking back, I have fun-filled unforgettable childhood memories where we do hide and seek with my neighbors that could last until midnight – we didn’t think much of anything. It’s crazy how time flies so fast that we are now in the adult stage surviving from WORK and BILLS 😂

Episode 2: Why CrisLandingOnÑo?

If you are going to ask us why we fell for each other, we can give you a thousand words: enough to last for a lifetime (Char!😃). We are currently in a nine-year roller coaster ride relationship with each other.
We recently got crash-landed with each other in which God made our "Puhon" a reality last June 2021, and "CrisLandingOnÑo" has been the official hashtag for our big event. We derived this from our names "Cris" from Marycris and "Ño" from Niño. We've decided to use this because it sounds the same as the famous Netflix Series South Korean "Crash Landing On You" and it is Marycris' favorite Korean drama of all time. And here is some big news announced last week that the CLOY's leading starts are getting married in real life😍. That is just so KILIG to the bones😻. As you can observe, we used this as the theme of our introduction post here in Hive that came from the two minds brainstorming together. Well, if you haven't watched it, this movie has a faultless mix of romance, family, friendship, and fashion. In short, a perfect comfort watches for these surreal times.

Episode 3: Jack of All Trades (NIÑO’s POV)

We are both a graduate of Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering. We are often called as the “Jack of all Trades”, used in reference to a person who has dabbled in many skills, rather than gaining expertise by focusing on one. But, as the complete saying goes, “A jack of all trades is a master of none but oftentimes better than a master of one”

The series Crash Landing on You leaves a life lesson, “Sometimes, the wrong train takes you to the right station”. Industrial Engineering is not our dream course nor did it come to our minds before. The reason is we chose the course because of the proximity of the University (Cebu Technological University – Danao Campus) from our residence and from there we chose the available courses in which Industrial Engineering includes. I dreamed to be a Psychologist while Marycris dreamt to be a Certified Public Accountant, but it turns out to be a blessing in disguise, if we wouldn’t have chosen this course we wouldn’t have met. We do not realize how important decisions are until we make the wrong ones and sometimes it takes a wrong turn to get you to the right place.

Here’s an interesting story from us. We don’t know each other not until we became classmates in college. The funny thing is that we are actually neighbors which are nearly around three houses apart, but we just discovered that when we became classmates in college😆. We are both a scholar while studying and we both studied hard until we finished college. We've always been a partner or a team in school, in projects, and in thesis. (In the picture). Yup, that’s us winning as best research paper presenter together and graduated with flying colors. (Our kind of Relationship goals💪). After earning a degree in industrial engineering, we can typically begin our careers in almost any field. Now, we are both working in one of the well-known Manufacturing Company in Cebu – Niño as an Industrial Engineer in the Cost Accounting Department and Marycris as Section Head in Demand Planning Department.

Episode 4: Contradictory but Complimentary (MARYCRIS’s POV)

We still find it beautiful how two opposite people met and shared the same feelings. In terms of food – especially chicken, I love the skin part, while Niño loves the meat; in terms of movie genres – I am more into romance and comedy, while Niño is more into fictional action series. I am a cat person while Niño is a dog person. But amongst all of these which I think is the majority problems of couples out there, is on where to eat. We always have a disagreement on where to eat and always end up eating at home.🤣

Although we may sometimes argue because of our different opinions and beliefs, we always manage and reconcile and we just agree to disagree. Crazy😅.

Episode 5: Same Soul Recognize (MARYCRIS’s POV)

Even though we disagree on some things, we also have a lot of common interests. We are both music lovers and listen to the same genres of music. If I would be given a chance to attend a concert of an International Artist it would be Taylor Swift while Niño would choose Ed Sheeran. We are inspired by both artists because of their voices, composing ability, and playing musical instruments. Niño can play guitar while I can do keyboard. It’s our way of bonding during rest days. We also love food trips. You can always find seafood soup and sizzling sisig on our plates when we dine out. We are fond of biking, hiking, and running. It is a good cardio exercise for us, and at the same time, it kills our boredom. Once in a while, we also do long rides and look for a place where we can stay overnight. We also enjoy kayaking and boat riding whenever we got a chance to go to the beach. We are also fond of playing mobile games together if you are familiar with the game “mobile legend” we are in the same squad and both reached the highest rank of the game which is the mythical glory.

Episode 6: Explore. Dream. Discover. (NIÑO’s POV)

In life, it's not the destination (just a big BONUS), it's the journey and who you are traveling with. We love to travel to different places to immerse ourselves in the beauty of nature, unload our stress, connect us to nature and feed our soul. We believe that relationships become stronger when you are able to travel with each other.

When we travel, we always make sure to spend the lowest amount possible. We always look for promo airfare, accommodation and tours and have dine-ins on carenderias. Others say that traveling is a waste of time and money, but not for us, we travel for Emotional Investment. Money can still be earned while energy doesn’t.

We started traveling way back in 2017. Our first out-of-town travel was in Iligan - located in Northern Mindanao of the Philippines and called the City of Majestic Waterfalls. We have been to several places locally in our country – the Philippines like Boracay, El Nido, Siargao, Manila, Bohol, Bacolod, Surigao, and of course several places here in Cebu. We cannot wait to share all of our budget travel trips and experience to all of you. While writing this, I just can’t contain my smile and happily reminiscing our past travels and crazy adventures. One of our goals is to travel abroad. We're all dreaming of travel, and soon enough, those dreams will become a reality once again after battling with this pandemic.

What our future posts will be? As mentioned, we will be sharing here our DIY travels, photography, wedding preparations, marathon tips, and maybe love advices? HAHA

WHY ARE WE HERE?

Honestly, it took us time to finally join here in hive. We are not into conversing for videos, so maybe here, through blogging in Hive, we can express ourselves without concealing ourselves. We are also having trouble translating our thoughts, feelings, and ideas into written text but then here we are sharing to the world our stories. This could be our place to store the precious moments and memories we had and for our future plans in traveling and what we do in our lifestyle. From what we heard, this community is the most supportive and intoxic.
