Hello Hive family, greetings to everyone! During my 30 years on this beautiful planet, this would be my second attempt to write a blog. In college, I had to do one of these as part of my school requirement, but stopping after the first try will not help you master anything. So, here I am, beginning my blog writing journey on this platform. Hola, Namaste and Kamusta ❤️
I am Honey May, so you can call me "Honey" if you like. It's a lovely name that I was given, not by my family but by the traditional midwife that helped my mama bring me out of this world. I hope I can give justice to this sweet word. "May" - well, you can guess my birth month without even thinking about it. I'm a single mom, a travel enthusiast, and currently managing a small start-up company.
My Upbringing!
I'm from the southern part of the Philippines, a country that lies in South East Asia Next to Malaysia. I could speak 3 different local dialects, English, a little bit of Spanish, and Hindi.
I came from a poor family of farmers with 3 siblings, living within a 6 dollars weekly budget for everything, without access to electricity and a nearby water source. Despite our hard-living conditions, I was raised with manners and in a loving home and lucky enough to be able to finish my college degree in Political Science and even more by taking extra courses to get a degree in Education. Educating myself is the best decision that I have ever done and lucky to have a supportive family behind it.
My Travels
I have traveled to many places both locally and abroad, and every time I do, I learn more about how interesting and unique our community is (I intentionally engage with the locals wherever I go), how amazing and warm the people are, and how to more precisely know and understand myself. I enjoy doing it and will continue to do so.
Beaches are my favorite, so most of my trips include's the beach, plus the Philippines is well known for having the most amazing beaches in the world. In addition to travel and my busy work environment managing people, I enjoy making dresses, DIY and upcycling old clothes, as well as watching movies. It's hard not to enjoy a compelling romantic comedy or a thrilling horror film.
How do I discover Hive?
Well, it was not until my last trip to the healing island of the Philippines (I will write about it) that I met my newfound friend @kellyane while trying to find a travel buddy since I do travel solo. She introduced and taught me how to start by creating an account and how Hive works. I thought it is interesting and want to try it and now... here you are, reading my first blog.
You will discover more about me in my next writings, but for now, I am heartfully thanking you for reading this content and I am glad to be part of the Hive Family. It is great to meet you all. See you in the next post. Much love!
Your Honey! Xoxo 😘
