London: Like the Earth and Mars, a dust storm with Saturn's moon Titan also runs. With the help of data collected by NASA's Cassini spacecraft, the US space agency has detected a storm in Titan's Mediterranean region.
Cassini's Visual and Infrared Mapping Spectrometer collected this data from 2004 to 2017 during the discovery of Saturn and its satellites. NASA launched Cassini in October, 1997. Its operation ended in September last year.
Titan is the only celestial body in the world, where the sources of fluid are present. But they contain fluid methane and ethane in place of water. When the Mediterranean region of Titan is close to the Sun, clouds are formed from those hydrocarbon molecules. A storm hits the back of the clouds on the surface of Titan.
At the beginning, scientists were of the opinion that the cause of the storm in the Mediterranean region is also the cloud of methane. But according to a study by the researchers of the University of Paris deirdreate of France, the possibility of becoming a cloud of Methane at Titan was almost naught at the time when the storm was found. It is evident from the fact that the cause of the storm is not the clouds of Methane, but dust dunes present in the Mediterranean region of Titan.
लंदन। पृथ्वी और मंगल की तरह ही शनि के चंद्रमा टाइटन पर भी धूल भरी आंधी चलती है। अमेरिकी अंतरिक्ष एजेंसी नासा के कैसिनी अंतरिक्ष यान द्वारा जुटाए गए डाटा की मदद से टाइटन के भूमध्य क्षेत्र में चलने वाली आंधी का पता चला है।
कैसिनी के विजुअल एंड इंफ्रारेड मैपिंग स्पेक्ट्रोमीटर ने 2004 से 2017 के बीच शनि और उसके उपग्रहों के अन्वेषण के दौरान यह डाटा इकट्ठा किया था। नासा ने अक्टूबर, 1997 में कैसिनी को लांच किया था। पिछले साल सितंबर में इसका अभियान समाप्त हो गया था।
टाइटन पृथ्वी के अलावा इकलौता खगोलीय पिंड है जहां द्रव के स्त्रोत मौजूद हैं। लेकिन उनमें पानी की जगह तरल मीथेन और ईथेन प्रवाहित होते हैं। जब टाइटन का भूमध्य क्षेत्र सूर्य के समीप होता है तब उन हाइड्रोकार्बन अणुओं से बादलों का निर्माण होता है। इन बादलों के वापस टाइटन की सतह पर आने से आंधी चलती है।
शुरुआत में वैज्ञानिकों का मत था कि भूमध्य क्षेत्र में चलने वाली आंधी का कारण भी मीथेन के बादल ही हैं। लेकिन फ्रांस की यूनिवर्सिटी पैरिस डिडेरोट के शोधकर्ताओं के अध्ययन के अनुसार, जिस वक्त आंधी चलने के सुबूत मिले हैं उस वक्त टाइटन पर मीथेन के बादल बनने की संभावना लगभग शून्य थी। इससे स्पष्ट है कि आंधी का कारण मीथेन के बादल नहीं बल्कि टाइटन के भूमध्य क्षेत्र में मौजूद धूल के टीले हैं।
