The strangest thing. Despite being reassured by many 'old folk' that tea light essential oil burners would be available to buy in the local Easingwold charity shop, it turns out this was not the case.
In the charity shop they tried to sell something which looked like a white space ship and had to be plugged into the mains.

Errr... what happened to heating up a bowl of water/essential oil with a candle?
I know I could just order one from Amazon but I was hoping to support the local community and find something with a little history to it.
Version 2
My new device appears to be working for now (notice the waft of steaming water/oil coming out of the upper bowl). Version 2 also has the added advantage that the the upper bowl doesn't turn black over time!
Version 1
The last one collapsed after 4 hours due to the white tack heating up and getting too soft to hold up the tooth picks!
It wasn't built to last. Just to fill my bedroom with the smell of lavender that night. It really helps me get to sleep better.
In conclusion
It is so often about what we have in our cupboards. I have only just moved in here and am poking my way through their many cupboards full of junk which clearly has not see the light of day for years. I found some sweets yesterday which went out of date 15 years ago!
I like to imagine that my new housemates are grateful that I am dusting the cobwebs and giving new life to unused items.
This is however just an assumption.
They probably think I am nuts!
