Back To Nature
The weather is getting better every day and I'm back walking in nature. I've missed doing this - I used to do it every day, so it really felt great to be doing it again. The vegetation is getting really lush in these ends and I like that the council has left the bushes grown.
Talking about vegetation, I wish I knew more about plants. I know people who can name pretty much every plant the come across. I know the typical stuff - the names of some of the trees like Sycamore ( we have a lot of those around here), Pine and Cherry. The others are sort of a mystery to me haha.
Thankfully Google has given us Google Lens, which is quite good at recognising plants, especially if you can show a fruit or flower, or a definitive leaf that isn't torn. Sometimes I do that if I'm curious enough about a plant.
I have some audiobooks queued up to get through so I will hopefully be doing this every day to get my exercise in. The walks take about an hour or so, but I plan to do 2-hour walks if I can get the time. Talking of audiobooks, the one I've just started is called "Breath The New Science of a Lost Art". Honestly, breathing is something that is so important, yet we take for granted until we have problems with it. It's a thing that we should master the same way as we do other things like nutrition and sleep. You can listen to this for free with this link. It's a 3-month or so free trial with a free book on Audible.
I know the photos look nice and peaceful, like somewhere in the countryside, but sadly it's near a major motorway. That means you need a nice pair of noise-cancelling headphones like mine to enjoy this kind of walk while listening to music, a podcast or, in my case, an audiobook. I have the Anker Soundcore Q30 🎧 which are absolutely phenomenal at noise cancelling. They also have a 40 hour battery life. I only charge it once a week and I know they won't die on me. If, for whatever reason, they do run out of battery, I can easily connect an auxiliary cable to them and carry on listening. The sound is incredibly good for the price range, and they're so comfortable that I sometimes forget I have them on. One of my favourite gadgets for sure.
Talking of exercise, walking ( if you can ) is one of the best. It's low-impact and enjoyable, yet very beneficial. If you want aerobic results, though, you have to up the pace a little or go up-hill for at least 20 minutes or so. I only am looking for a good blood circulation and some fresh air. Mind you I do have a couple of hills to walk up to get back to my place, so I have no choice but to get a little sweaty on my walks, however slowly I move :)
Peace & Love,
