Greetings, needleworkers! I actually did a bunch of sewing this week, but it was all hand repair of things in my mending pile, so I don't have any beautiful photos of completed projects, but it sure feels good to whittle down the stack a bit!
Mend ALL THE THINGS!
I mended three out of four handles on a bag I've had to mend before - the handles, adding a patch to a hole in the bottom - this time adding a supporting patch to the handle itself. The bag is beautiful and big and the handles are long and nice, but the fabric seems to tear if you look at it funny, let alone lug home heavy groceries in it.
Then I mended the seam of one pillowcase that was coming apart, and then three holes in another, which were not at the seams, just the fabric was tearing apart. It was a pillowcase I had made out of a flannel material several years ago for a big square pillow that none of my standard pillowcases would fit. The pillow has been sitting naked on my couch as where-the-couch-is-broken-and-caves-in support, underneath blankets, since the pillowcase tore, lol. Now it can have a case again! I've been thinking the couch (which was a freebie from a neighbor that moved out and left it) is so damaged, I will likely just toss it and revert to using my papasan, which doesn't have a cushion anymore, but if I use my big square pillow and a pile of blankets, that should work, I think. But when I moved the couch into my apartment, I had an asthma attack doing so, and I was healthier then - I need help to move it out.
Anyway, that's my thrill-a-minute project list for the week! How's your mending pile looking?
