BEIRUT, LEBANON (9:30 A.M.) - The battle for southern Syria has recently intensified after Syrian Arab Army (SAA) reinforcements arrived in the Al-Safa region to take on the remaining Islamic State (ISIS/ISIL/IS/Daesh) terrorists.
Led by their elite 4th Armored Division, the Syrian Arab Army resumed their offensive against the Daesh force in the Al-Safa region this morning.
Using heavy artillery and airstrikes, the Syrian Arab Army was able to overpower the Daesh militants this morning at several points in the northwestern axis of Al-Safa.
According to a military source in Sweida city, the Syrian Arab Army scored a new advance in this rocky region, paving the way for their troops to approach the large mountain in the Al-Safa region.
Previously, the Syrian Army was able to reach the southern perimeter of Al-Safa, but were later forced back after the Daesh forces launched a powerful counter-offensive.
The Syrian Army is now working to clear the remaining points around the Al-Safa mountain in a bid to surround the area and force the Daesh terrorists to either surrender their last positions or suffer with no water supply and provisions.
Al-Safa is a mountainous region in the northeastern countryside of the Al-Sweida Governorate; it has been under the occupation of the Daesh forces since 2015.
