BEIRUT, LEBANON (12:30 P.M.) - A Soyuz-2.1B rocket carrying equipment from the Russian Ministry of Defence launched from Plesetsk Cosmodrome in the region of Arkhangelsk on Thursday.
It was reported that the launch went as planned, was on time and stable communication was established with the rocket soon after take-off.
This is the first launch of a Soyuz-2.1 carrier rocket since the Soyuz MS-10 spacecraft transporting Russian Cosmonaut Alexey Ovchinin and US Astronaut Nick Hague to the ISS on October 11.
After launching from Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan, the crew were forced to carry out an emergency landing due to a reported booster failure.
The pair returned safely to Earth.
