BEIRUT, LEBANON (6:20 A.M.) - The Syrian Arab Army (SAA) continued their military operations in the Al-Safa region of southern Syria on Sunday, targeting the last positions of the so-called "Islamic State" (ISIS/ISIL/IS/Daesh) forces in the area.
Led by the 3rd Corps and 4th Armored Division, the Syrian Arab Army began their assault by striking Daesh's defenses at the western axis of the Al-Safa region.
Following their barrage of missiles and artillery shells, the Syrian Arab Army stormed the last hilltops occupied by Daesh in western Al-Safa; this resulted in a series of fierce clashes on Sunday.
While no advances were made, the Syrian Arab Army was able to inflict heavy casualties in the Daesh ranks.
According to a military source in Sweida, many of the remaining Daesh terrorists in the Al-Safa region are foreign combatants that are refusing to surrender to the government forces.
With limited provisions and no way to escape, the remaining Daesh terrorists are left with two options: surrender or fight till the death.
