BEIRUT, LEBANON (1:00 A.M.) - UN Envoy to Yemen Martin Griffiths called for a halt to fighting between Saudi-led coalition forces and Houthi fighters during a visit to the Yemeni port city of Hodeidah on Friday.
"The attention of the world is on Hodeidah," Griffiths said.
"We all have a responsibility to keep that international pledge to keep the peace in Hodeidah. And to protect the civilians and the people of Hodeidah from further devastation. Now I welcome the recent calls for a halt in the fighting in Hodeidah."
Fighting between Saudi-led coalition forces and Houthi fighters flared up again around Hodeidah earlier in November despite the United Nations (UN) pushing for a resumption of peace talks.
