California is on the verge of going down the slippery slope of placing authoritarian restrictions on speech. Whether Governor Brown signs the bill or not, a mindset—inimical to a free society—is on full display for the rest of America to see and, hopefully, reject.

Back in my college days, I associated the Democratic party with civil liberties. Maybe it was true then or maybe it was a lie. Or maybe it was just a misconception on my part. One thing is for sure though...today they are more of a clear and present danger to civil liberties than a defender of them.
Don't take my criticism of Democrats as defense of Republicans because it isn't. Overall I don't think they are much if any better. While Democrats seem a little better at attacking civil liberties and economic insanity at the moment, it's a close competition.
