Puma and Adidas
The brothers Adolf and Rudolf Dassler (Rudi & Adi) owned their own shoe factory, very successful at the time: "Gebrüder Dassler Schuhfabrik". At the outbreak of World War II, both brothers took opposing (ideological) positions. By orders of Hitler, the factory of the Dassler became a factory of spare parts of tanks and missile launchers to the control of Rudolf.
When the war ended, Rudolf was called in to explain his connections with Hitler and had to move to another part of the village with his family. That's how Rudolf created his own shoe factory called "Puma." And Adi (Adolf) was in charge of the old factory, which we now know as ADIDAS.
Netflix
Reed Hastings went through a bad experience with one of the best known companies at that time: Blockbuster. Reed was fined $ 40 for not returning the movie "Apollo 13" on time. Not only did this annoy him, but it also seemed to him an excessive sum. With this impulse, and some anger, created Netflix, with the idea of not penalizing for not return movies, and charge a minimum amount for an unlimited subscription for all users to have access.
FedEx
FedEx was born with the idea of counteracting the large delays of the mail companies of the 1970s. Originally it focused on moving urgent documents. Frederick W. Smith, his creator, had presented this idea as part of a college job. Years later, thanks to a wealthy heritage he received and experience in the US Navy, where he observed the logistics system, he bought a fleet of aircraft, founding FedEx.
