Pretty interesting how many ivory tower professors are becoming hyper radical in the past few years. I was a fan of Robert Reich and Larry Lessig, some even donated to Lessig’s presidential campaign hoping he would advocate pardoning Assange and Snowden to try to make those an issue discussed in the fake news. I feel like Reich’s “Work of Nations” and Lessig’s “Remix” have good ideas in them and are valuable, despite the author's total state worship.
I can understand why Larry Lessig might get so mobilized with all the bs that faced Aaron Schwartz, not sure why Reich such activist lately—but maybe I didn’t pay attention before??
I don’t understand what has mobilized Lessig who was kept out of DNC debates to become some super pro Clinton anti Trump advocate. Used to be big Lessig fan, now just medium.
So I’ve been following some of Reich’s videos on facebook lately. Saw this interesting one. Seems like he hates Trump and at worst is indifferent to Clinton. At about 4 minutes 27 sec, Reich seems to be angry over billionaires election influence and Clinton winning popular vote—even though clearly electoral college in Constitution, and it appears Clinton spent nearly double Trump in election costs, so some crocadile tears when it come to them billionaires' influence, right???
Now seems Reich is mobilizing people to be ready if Mueller is fired to meet and maybe do stuff from there if enough people meet and they don’t look foolish for runnin’ they mouth about what they gonna do.
Will be interesting what all happens. Love em or hate em, seems people still politically active in an off election year, I dont remember this kind of climate in politics ever, but maybe I am poorly perceiving attitudes and/or have poorly perceived the state of nature in the past such that my statement of recent increase in political engagement is incorrect. Who knows? Trust no one!! Cogito Ergo Sum!!!
