After a series of discussions between the top notch of the PML-N, the ruling party, after the disqualification of Nawaz Sharif as Prime Minister, reports say that PML-N has reached a consensus that Shahbaz Sharif, Nawaz's brother, will be made the next Prime Minister of Pakistan. However, this requires Shahbaz Sharif to contest National Assembly Bi-elections at the seat, now vacant as a result of disqualification of Nawaz Sharif.

Supreme Court disqualified Nawaz Sharif on corruption, concealment of assets, assets beyond means allegations. A criminal investigation has been launched against Nawaz Sharif in the National Accountability Bureau. After the verdict, PML-N is bound to substitute Nawaz with a new Prime Minister. Shahid Khaqan Abbasi has been finalized as an interim Prime Minister of Pakistan.
