The 2010 explosion in the oil drilling rig in Mexico, was a wake-up call for British Petroleum (BP) and cost about $ 20 billion in fines and repairs.
This obviously encourages the stimulation of the development of best practices but, the company discovered that there are not enough field technicians with the necessary experience to address these problems.
That is why BP has turned to the augmented reality glasses of the Fieldbit company, which allow to transmit what a field technician sees to an expert who is in another place.
The solution includes two products: Hero, a collaboration platform that allows technicians and experts to communicate remotely and Fieldbit Knowledge, which records interactions and classifies them for later use.
Something like that had already been announced for the Microsoft Hololens but, this new platform seems to really work. You can check it in the video of the original article.
