RT reported today:
A coalition airbase in the western Iraqi province of Anbar has been struck by at least 10 missiles, just two weeks after a rocket attack on US-led forces in northern Iraq killed a civilian contractor.
On Wednesday, Colonel Wayne Marotto, spokesman for the US military in Iraq and Operation Inherent Resolve, confirmed that the Ain al-Asad airbase had been hit by at least 10 indirect fire missiles.
Marotto said that the base, which houses both US and coalition troops, was struck at approximately 7:20am (4:20am GMT). It is
as yet unclear if there are any casualties. An unnamed source from Baghdad Operations Command told Reuters that around 13 rockets were launched from a location eight kilometers (five miles) from the base.
It is the first attack on coalition positions since the US launched airstrikes on Iranian-backed militia in Syria last week.
My commentary:
Gee whiz! That sure didn’t take long! Only yesterday video of the Iranian missile attack of January 8, 2020 on Ain al-Asad AFB was declassified and published. Now there’s a rocket attack on Ain al-Asad. A year ago Iran put six medium range missiles onto buildings at the base after giving a 2 hour warning in retaliation for an American drone strike that murdered Iranian General Soleimani and Iraqi General al-Muhandes – simultaneously enraging both Iranians and Iraqis and putting US personnel in Iraq and Syria in greatly increased danger.
I find this rocket attack to be far too conveniently timed. It’s called a “rocket” attack, not a missile attack, because these rockets were little more than enhanced fireworks, I’ll bet. And they were fired from a few miles away from the base, not from Iran, though what do you bet Iran will be blamed?
It’s all so very well scripted; there’s more continuity than in Wonder Woman 1984 or The Rise of Skywalker. Biden is installed in the White House, sabres are rattled, a rocket is fired in Iraq [by who-knows-who. Somebody who wants to provoke the USAF to bomb them, for shits and giggles, I presume] killing one person, the USAF bombs what they call Iranian facilities in Syria in “retaliation” and now the US personnel at the still undefended (even from small rockets.
Where’s that “Iron Dome” after a whole year’s time?) base.
USAF and White House (and CIA? Awe come ON! Of course!) action puts US personnel on the ground in increased danger once again. Last year “we" [neocons and CIA friends] baited the Iranians, hoping they would cause some nice juicy US casualties so “we" could launch a war but the Iranians were too smart for that. So this year, now that Trump is out of the way, “we" have to rely on who-knows-who in Iraq to bomb Ain al-Asad since the real Iranians will not oblige with a real attack nor will they ever trust the White House again so far as to put any of their people in danger in Iraq on White House promises of peace talks. US personnel on the ground in Iraq, Syria or Afghanistan are useful targets to sell more war appropriations to Congress.
The useless wars continue, the debt piles up and up, the country is locked down (except in rebellious Texas and Mississippi) and so “we” sell our country out and skip along merrily up to and over the brink of disaster like Wile E. Coyote.
