The new occurred Nipah -Virus appeared in south India and took already 12 victims. The WHO demands a strong research on this virus. By now there is no cure against this virus and is one of the eight most dangerous viruses on the planet.
The Nipah-Virus has the potential to become, like Ebola and Zima, a global pandemic. The death-rate goes up to 70%, depending on the surrounding.
Next to the 12 victims of the Nipah-Virus are around 100 people under quarantine. Mostly family members and hospital staff, which had contact to patients with the Nipah-Virus. The virus showed up in south India’s state Kerala. Suspected cases in two another states showed up.
The virus can be transmitted by animals and from human to human.
Fruit bars are suspected as transmitting animal. By biting fruits, and these fruits later consumed by mammals, they can spread the virus.
The virus seems to be spread from human to human via droplet infection. The symptoms go from fever, respiratory problems to meningitis (brain fever).
A similar virus has shown up in the nineties in south-east Asia.
