I wanted to share an idea about the Nintendo Labo to see what you all would think.
The Nintendo Labo is due for release within the month, and it looks promising. But I can't help but wonder - what if Nintendo tied in a current franchises to promote Labo even further?
F-Zero has been dormant for nearly 15 years. Back in 2015, Miyamoto stated in an interview* that there's a chance F-Zero could return if there's a new control concept to make it different, instead of more of the same.
I believe Labo to be the perfect opportunity to give F-Zero a new game, while even giving Nintendo a door into VR. By creating a cardboard VR headset from Labo (a la Google cardboard) and taking the racing wheel toy-con, Nintendo could create a high speed, intense first person racer people can enjoy at home.
Just imagine racing at blisteringly fast speeds, surrounded by 30 opponents, while the joy cons give that off HD Rumble for steering feedback. It would be an immersive experience.
Flight games are also key candidates for VR, and I feel Star Fox would also be a perfect game for VR, since both racing and flying games can be played from a cockpit.
Metroid Prime might even be an option with its FPS gameplay.
So what do you think? Would you buy a VR headset Labo? Would you want an F-Zero or Star Fox game for it if there were such a thing?
