Nipah virus has recently become a serious threat in India but there is no wonder that it would spread to other countries, follow below-mentioned steps and stay away from it.
Nipah Virus (NiV) cause severe disease in both animals and humans. The natural host of the virus is fruit bats of the Pteropodidae Family, Pteropus genus.
How is it transmitted?
Fruits bats are the hosts of this virus. They transmit this virus through saliva, once they eat any fruit the virus transfer its shelter to fruits.
Animals and people eating these fruits get affected by this virus. It is also transmitted among people by direct contact.
Symptoms of people affected by Nipah Virus are Fever, nausea, dizziness and drowsiness.
Treatment :
Specific Treatment is not yet available so prevention is the only way. To stay away from this disease follow these tips
- Avoid eating fruits or vegetables bitten by animals. For more security cook/wash fruits and vegetables thoroughly in lukewarm water
- Wash your hand with a proper handwash after reaching home.
- Don't visit areas which are fully affected by this virus.
This isn't the new virus. Previous outbreaks have been reported in India, Thailand, Cambodia, the Philippines, Laos and Malaysia. But it hasn't created any serious havoc. Let's fight and defeat it again.
