The Saint Lucie Nuclear Power plant is located on Hutchinson Island about eight miles southeast of Ft. Pierce Florida.
Lets hope the Engineering calcs were done for a Cat 4-5 rolling right over the top of St Lucie and the backup power supply can keep the twin cores cool after it passes.
These type of reactor's are just a commercialised version of the ones developed for powering nuclear submarines so longevity was not part of the original concept design.
Saint Lucie has been upgraded to generate more power and it's original operating license lifetime has been extended.
Is it ready for the perfect storm?
