Real-name attestation release
We have a new real-name attestation release coming soon. This release will only be available to residents of a few lucky countries, for reasons which will become apparent once we make the announcement. Stay tuned.
ORider ride sharing
Winner of the recent Bot War, Peter Miklos, has renamed his Obyte-powered ride-sharing app to ORider, and continued with development. Since winning the Bot War, Peter has;
- added ride auto-completion for driver
- added ride auto-completion for passengers
- improved UI for checked-in and paid status feedback
The amount of development achieved in such a short space of time is seriously impressive, especially given that ORider was a late entry into the competition! Peter informs us “There is still a lot to be done to make it smoother and more user friendly with more feedback and better UI design but the basic concept has been implemented and functional”.
Follow Peter on Steemit for future updates on this project.
Existing real-name attestation upgrade
Since its release 12 months ago, almost 22,000 real-world names have been attested to Obyte wallets. Last week, our real-name attestation service with Jumio got an upgrade. When attesting, Jumio now no longer receives the Obyte wallet address.
A big shout-out to Peter Miklos (he has been very busy) for pointing out to Ivan on Techs YouTube video that despite what Ivan claimed, the crypto world HAS had zero knowledge KYC for some time, implemented by Obyte about a year ago! For those unfamiliar with this, you can already use it to verify real identities or accredited investors status, make asset issuance or transfer conditional on it.
Ivan acknowledged Peter’s comment on YouTube, so who knows, maybe he will be intrigued enough to explore more of what the Obyte platform is capable of doing.
Weekly Draw proof of randomness
Tarmo has started publishing proof of randomness for the Weekly Draw. Reminder - every week since December we have been giving away around $6,000 worth of Bytes and Blackbytes. Entry is free, so if you haven't entered yet, please do so.
Obyte.io oracle list
The non-financial data explorer for Obyte, Byteball.co, can now be found at Obyte.io. Additionally, Fabien has added a new Oracle list.
Foundation update
We expect the paperwork for the Obyte Foundation to be ready to submit by the lawyers shortly. The paperwork needs to be correct first time around, which is why it has taken longer than some might have anticipated. Almost done!
First stage of the IoTVerse grant complete
The first stage of the IoTVerse grant has been completed. We look forward to future developments! Reminder - IoTVerse is a project to make Obyte even more IoT manufacturer-friendly, for example by miniaturizing the Obyte node, and adding a functionality like secure automatic authentication without a need to configure a device manually.
Discord reminder
The Obyte team and most community members have now stopped using Slack, and you can find us on Discord instead. Please join our Discord if you still have not done so. We are still occasionally monitoring Slack, but basically only to ask people to use Discord instead.
